Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, the Supreme Committee for Scientific Research Ethics held its 14th meeting today. The session was chaired by Dr. Fatima Hanafi, a professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and attended by Dr. Amal Abdel-Ghani, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Sciences for People with Special Needs, who serves as the committee’s secretary. This meeting is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to develop its scientific research ethics framework and promote responsible research practices.

The meeting was attended by the following: Dr. Hisham Abdel Hamid from the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Hoda El-Fayoumi from the Faculty of Science, Dr. Hoda Abdel Moneim from the Faculty of Nursing, Dr. Shaimaa Sanousi from the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Amani Abdel Khaleq from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Noha Mohamed from the Faculty of Social Work and Development, Dr. Asmaa Abdel Moneim from the Faculty of Arts, and Dr. Mahmoud Ibrahim from the Faculty of Physical Therapy.

The meeting addressed several key issues aimed at advancing the university’s scientific research ethics framework. Foremost among these was the development of a regulatory structure for social science and humanities research—specifically by reviewing a proposed set of executive bylaws for the Research Ethics Committee in these fields—as well as the refinement of submission and review procedures, through the discussion of a proposed application form and a framework for the evaluation of research proposals.

The meeting also addressed the updating of the composition of subcommittees within the faculties, with the aim of enhancing the efficiency of the research ethics review system and strengthening its institutional role—in accordance with governing regulations, rules, and established ethical principles. Furthermore, the meeting focused on supporting research-related training and awareness-raising; this included discussing reports and recommendations from previously held events, as well as proposals for future activities and training workshops designed for researchers. These initiatives seek to embed an understanding of the ethical principles and standards of scientific research, and to foster adherence to the regulations, rules, and ethical guidelines that govern research work.

The University President affirmed that the committee will continue its efforts to develop the regulatory and procedural frameworks for scientific research ethics, foster a culture of responsible research, and strengthen adherence to ethical standards. These initiatives aim to enhance the quality of research outcomes, safeguard the rights of research participants, and contribute to elevating the standing of Beni-Suef University in the field of scientific research
