The Faculty of Nursing at Beni Suef University launches its third international conference on "Artificial Intelligence Applications in Healthcare"

Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, the activities of the Third International Conference of the Faculty of Nursing, entitled "Nursing in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Innovation, Technology and Nursing Care Practice," were launched. The event was supervised by Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Hanan El-Zablawy Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing.

In the presence of Dr. Hanan Suleiman, Vice President of the National University for Employment and Innovation Affairs and former member of the Senate, Dr. Zain Al-Abidin Adam, Advisor to the President of the University for Community Service Affairs, Dr. Suhair Badr Al-Din, Head of the Nursing Sector Committee at the Supreme Council of Universities, and Dr. Shadia Abdel Qader, former Head of the Committee, along with a group of deans of colleges, vice deans and heads of departments, and representatives of the Ministry of Health, university hospitals and major medical institutions such as “Bahia Hospital” and “Cleopatra Group”, and the American Heart Association, the conference aimed to explore the applications of artificial intelligence to raise the quality of nursing care and employ innovation in education and practical practice to reduce health risks and provide personalized care.

The university president explained that artificial intelligence is no longer a luxury or science fiction, but has become a tangible reality that changes the rules of the game in the medical sector, as it strongly contributes to supporting clinical decisions, monitoring patients remotely with extreme accuracy, and reducing human errors, thus giving nursing staff superior predictive capabilities to save lives. He pointed out that organizing this conference embodies Beni Suef University’s constant keenness to keep pace with the language of the times, and to strive towards integrating technological tools into the core of clinical practice, and to qualify students and graduates to employ smart applications in line with the state’s vision towards comprehensive digitization.

Dr. Tarek Ali also pointed out that the conference witnessed a large attendance and fruitful interaction with the participation of a select group of specialized professors from inside and outside Egypt, as it included the presentation and discussion of 44 topics that varied between research papers and poster exhibitions, including 13 topics with effective international participation from 9 sister countries, including (the United Kingdom, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Libya, Lebanon, Iraq, the Emirates, and Qatar), in addition to the participation of 29 researchers representing 17 Egyptian public, private and national universities, which reflects the prestigious academic position that the Faculty of Nursing at the university has attained as an international platform for the exchange of research experiences and visions.
Dr. Hanan El-Zeblawy Hassan, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Head of the Conference, expressed her pride in the conference's outstanding success, extending her sincere thanks and appreciation to the organizing committee and all those who contributed to its success, especially Dr. Abeer Nasr, Vice President of the Conference, Dr. Amani Arafat, General Secretary , and the coordinators Dr. Noha Hassan, Dr. Ola Adel, and Dr. Ahmed Mustafa. She announced the conclusion of the event with the presentation of 10 important scientific recommendations for the use of artificial intelligence in nursing. These recommendations included: positioning AI as a supportive tool, not a replacement for nursing judgment; scrutinizing all its outputs; adopting a "nurse as the verifier" approach; establishing AI literacy as a core professional competency and integrating it into curricula; and embedding its governance within nursing values while demanding absolute transparency in its systems to ensure that nurses lead the smart transformation of the healthcare system.
