Beni Suef University President Appoints Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Zaki as Acting Dean of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Institute

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, issued Decree No. 1686 today, appointing Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Zaki, Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, as Acting Dean of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Institute through July 31, 2027. The University President expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Adel Gouda, the former Dean, for his dedicated efforts during his tenure.

Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Zaki earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacognosy from Beni Suef University in 2013, following his tenure as a visiting scholar at the National Center for Natural Products Research at the University of Mississippi, USA. He later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Mississippi in 2016 before his appointment as an Associate Professor at Beni Suef University's Faculty of Pharmacy in 2019. He has been serving as a Full Professor of Pharmacognosy and Natural Products at the Faculty of Pharmacy since 2025.

His leadership record includes serving as Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Preparations for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants at the Institute from 2020 to 2021, and Vice Dean of the Institute for Community Service and Environmental Development since 2024.

Dr. Zaki brings extensive academic, research, and executive leadership expertise in pharmacy, pharmacognosy, and natural products. His contributions span community engagement, industry collaboration, and the advancement of scientific research, backed by international research credentials and scientific consultancy roles in the United States. Furthermore, he serves as a peer reviewer for international scientific journals, helped organize the Institute's 1st International Scientific Forum, and has participated in numerous specialized global conferences, including international symposia on medicinal plants and natural product sciences in the U.S.
