Beni Suef University Participates in the Seventh Annual Forum of Units to Combat Violence Against Women in Egyptian Universities

Under the patronage of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at the university participated in the coordination meeting of the seventh annual forum of anti-violence against women units in Egyptian universities. This was attended by Dr. Tarek Ali, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ghada Atef, Director of the Unit, and Dr. Jumana Ramadan, Executive Member of the Unit.
Dr. Mansour explained that the forum is within the framework of the 16-day campaign of activities to eliminate violence against women, in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Korea International Cooperation Academy (KOICA), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Embassy of New Zealand. The National Council for Women reviewed the results achieved by establishing units to combat violence against women in Egyptian universities, where 42 units were formed to combat violence against women at the level of public, private, and technological universities. 22 international cooperation protocols were signed, and 40 workshops were held to build the capacities of directors, members, and members of units to combat violence against women. He pointed out the roles of units to combat violence in providing legal, psychological, and social support. The Council also works within the framework of achieving the 2014 Egyptian Constitution, which includes more than 20 articles to empower and protect women. Dr. Tariq Ali pointed out that during the forum, various forms of violence via the internet were reviewed, such as: sexual abuse, defamation, hacking, electronic stalking, and cyber violence, "because it is part of violence through technology, and the challenges facing women with disabilities in universities were discussed, in addition to presenting some proposals and recommendations to combat violence against women with disabilities in universities, the most important of which is designing university activities that take into account the special needs of women with disabilities, establishing specialized support units and hotlines to report violence and provide immediate support to them, in addition to raising awareness among the university community through workshops and awareness campaigns. The meeting also included presentations of the achievements of the units within each university.
