(Green Environment towards a Sustainable and Safe Society) initiative won second place at Beni Suef University level

Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced today that the Green Environment Initiative towards a sustainable and safe society for the Green Eco team at the Faculty of Science won second place in the community initiatives competition at the university level, and the initiative was escalated to represent the university at the republic level, under the supervision of Dr. Hamada Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of College of Science.
The university president explained that the initiative is based on the idea of making society green, more sustainable, and more advanced, through two stages, the first is to increase the planting of trees that are more capable of reducing greenhouse emissions and provide a calmer and more sustainable environment, and the second is to expand the cultivation of microalgae, which has the ability to trap and reduce Greenhouse emissions, led by carbon dioxide and some greenhouse gases, three times greater than trees, in addition to adapting algae biomass to benefit from it in valuable industries that have an economic value and a beneficial impact on the environment and society, such as the production of green hydrogen and biofuels.
Dr. Hamada Mohamed pointed out that the Green-Eco team conducted many researches, which resulted in a clear reduction in the percentage of greenhouse gases. The percentage of carbon dioxide was reduced by 19%, and carbon dioxide by 61%. Pointing out that the research team won first place at the level of the republic in the scientific research competition and was honored by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
It should be noted that the team works under the supervision of Dr. Ola Hamouda Ibrahim, Professor of Plant Physiology, Department of Botany and Microbiology, Dr. Muhammad Sayed Abdel Hamid, Professor of Microbiology in the Department of Botany and Microbiology, and Dr. Wael Ahmed Fathi, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Botany and Microbiology. The team includes the student Ahmed Fathi Al-Sayed in the fourth Grade of the Microbiology and Biochemistry program, the student Abdul Rahman Muhammad Abdel Azim in the fourth Grade of the Microbiology and Biochemistry program, and the student Ahmed Jalal Saber, third Grade, microbiology and biochemistry program.
