President of Beni Suef University: Activating the community participation of the Faculty of Earth Sciences
Prof. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, discussed the importance of the role of the Faculty of Earth Sciences in the community participation in the governorate during his chairmanship of the College Council No. 14 on 9 January 2008, in the presence of Prof. Assem Salama, Deputy Governor of Beni Suef, Dr. Sayed Abdelkader, Dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University ,the head of the Geology Division of the Union of Scientists, the Vice-Presidents and the heads of departments of the College.
The university president pointed to the need to train students in factories and bodies related to the various disciplines of the college, especially with regard to water resources, oil, gas, mineral resources, geology and industrial development, which in turn increase the ability of students to compete in the labor market.
The Council also discussed some of the proposed topics for training courses on drinking water purification, wastewater treatment and industrialization, and ways to rationalize water consumption through the Center for Water Studies and Research, as well as the future vision to train students in the latest techniques in mineral exploration, groundwater and geology.
