Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, chaired several meetings today to oversee the development of the university’s education, scientific research, and administrative systems. These included meetings of the Higher Education Projects Development Unit, the Faculty Affairs Committee, the Board of Directors of the University Performance Development Center, and the Council for Postgraduate Studies and Research. The meetings were attended by Dr. Hamada Mahmoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Mr. Mohamed Selim, University Secretary-General; Dr. Mohamed Qaid, Director of the Higher Education Projects Development Unit; Dr. Abeer Moawad, Director of the University Performance Development Center; and members of the respective boards and councils.
During a meeting of the Higher Education Projects Development Management Unit, a report from the development and infrastructure teams regarding progress made in August was reviewed. Several topics concerning the enhancement of the Unit’s operational mechanisms were discussed, including the approval of the composition of the permanent and administrative teams, the signing of a new maintenance contract for photocopiers and printers, and the establishment of a maintenance contract for the UPS systems serving the electronic testing building. Additionally, the meeting addressed the request to restructure the Departments and Programs Unit and the Systems Unit.
The Faculty Affairs Committee meeting also discussed the mechanisms and criteria for the transfer and secondment of faculty members—both from within and outside the university—in accordance with governing laws and regulations.
During the meeting of the Board of Directors of the University Performance Development Center, several proposals regarding the enhancement of the "Scientific Citation" course were discussed. These included conducting the course entirely online and streamlining procedures for registration, cancellations, and fee payments. Discussions also addressed eliminating the temporary fee-payment receipt in favor of accepting the final certificate as the sole proof of payment for postgraduate enrollment. Furthermore, the Board considered a proposal for the university to sponsor two patent applications annually—subject to guidelines from the Intellectual Property Management Office—as well as a proposal from the International Ranking Office to organize a "Science Day" celebration and university awards, modeled after practices at Egyptian universities.
In a related context, Dr. Tarek Ali chaired the 243rd meeting of the Council for Postgraduate Studies and Research, attended by faculty vice-deans for postgraduate studies and research and members of the council.
The Council discussed a number of matters concerning the graduate studies and research sector, as well as regulations governing the status of students and researchers enrolled in diploma, master’s, and doctoral programs. These discussions covered the waiving of time periods, and the approval, suspension, or cancellation of enrollment for graduate students across various university faculties, in addition to approving the registration of master’s and doctoral theses at the university’s various faculties and institutes.
The meeting also addressed a number of matters concerning the Department of Cultural Relations—specifically regarding academic missions, study leaves, and scholarships—as part of the ongoing oversight of postgraduate studies and scientific research, and the regulation of relevant academic and administrative procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
