Beni Suef University President Appoints Dr. Alaa Mohamed Mahmoud as Acting Dean of the Laser Research and Applications Institute

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, issued Decree No. 1687 today, appointing Dr. Alaa Mohamed Mahmoud, Associate Professor at the Laser Research and Applications Institute, as Acting Dean of the Institute. The University President also expressed his appreciation and thanks to Dr. Wafaa Rabie, the former Dean, for her dedicated efforts during her tenure.

Dr. Alaa earned his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Cairo University (Beni Suef Branch) in 2005, followed by a Master’s degree in Laser Physics from Minia University in 2010, and a Ph.D. in Laser Physics in 2016. His postgraduate research focused extensively on semiconductor lasers and their applications in optical communications.

Throughout his career, Dr. Alaa has held numerous executive and academic leadership positions within the Institute, including Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Director of the Laser Technology and Technical Support Center, Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Unit, and Director of the Assessment and Evaluation Unit. Additionally, he served as Acting Head of the Department of Laser Sciences and Interactions and Chairman of the Institute's Postgraduate Studies and Research Committee. His contributions also extend to key administrative roles, including updating academic and financial regulations, upgrading laboratories, and enhancing educational and training programs.
