Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, inaugurated today the upgraded Intensive Care Complex at the University Hospitals at a total cost of EGP 2.3 million, as part of the university’s plan to enhance healthcare services provided to the local community.
The inauguration was attended by Dr. Hany Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Dr. Emad El-Banna, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Dr. Mohamed Nagi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Rasha Hassan, Head of the Neurology Department; Mr. Mohamed Selim, Secretary-General of the University; and Mr. Sarhan Mohamed, Financial and Administrative Director of the Hospital.
The developments included the Intermediate Care Units for General Internal Medicine and Neurology with a 30-bed capacity, a specialized emergency pharmacy, an upgraded neurosonology (ultrasound) unit, and a renovated lecture hall, reflecting the university's commitment to its societal, humanitarian, and educational roles.
Dr. Tarek Ali emphasized that these inaugurations are part of the university’s strategy to expand medical services and provide a comprehensive therapeutic environment for patients. He affirmed that the university spares no effort in serving the community, noting that these developments represent a significant step toward bolstering the capacity of university hospitals to address health challenges and deliver the best possible care. He added that the university consistently seeks to support the healthcare system in alignment with the state’s vision for developing the medical sector.
For his part, Dr. Hany Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, explained that opening the new critical internal medicine and neurology units reflects the faculty’s commitment to providing subspecialties that serve patients in emergency and complex cases. He pointed out that these projects mark a qualitative leap in medical service quality by offering advanced diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, while also providing outstanding practical training for medical students in a modern clinical setting. He reiterated that the faculty will continue developing its educational and research programs to serve both society and the healthcare sector.
Dr. Emad El-Banna, Executive Director of University Hospitals, noted that these upgrades came in response to growing community needs. The care units were equipped according to the latest medical standards, alongside creating a database to evaluate the replacement and modernization of clinic infrastructure. He affirmed that the hospitals are dedicated to delivering high-quality healthcare services, and that these new projects will help relieve pressure on hospitals and provide specialized patient care. He concluded that the university hospitals will remain a cornerstone in supporting the healthcare infrastructure in Beni Suef Governorate.
