July 12th… Launch of the Summer School for Climate Ambassadors to Support Youth and Innovation at Beni Suef University

Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Advanced Sciences announced the launch of the Summer School for Climate Ambassadors, to be held from July 12 to 16 at the faculty premises. This initiative is a collaboration with the Institute for Sustainability and Carbon Footprint, ISCF Company, and in partnership with the United Nations Climate Ambassadors Initiative. The aim is to prepare a new generation of young people capable of actively contributing to achieving sustainability goals and climate action. The program is under the supervision of Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel-Mawgoud, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Asmaa Hamouda, Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences.
The university president explained that the program aims to develop leadership and green business skills in the field of climate, support innovation and entrepreneurship among young people, and qualify climate ambassadors to spread awareness within their communities, as well as enhance knowledge based on e-learning and exams, and strengthen the scientific foundations for understanding climate change, within the university’s strategy aimed at empowering young people with the tools of knowledge and influence, in line with global trends in facing environmental challenges.
Dr. Samaa El-Daq, Dean of the Faculty, indicated that the training program includes a comprehensive schedule that begins with an introduction to the fundamentals of climate change, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the role of youth in climate action. It then moves on to carbon footprint calculations and methods of accounting for greenhouse gases, followed by a review of international policies and agreements and mechanisms of climate diplomacy. The program concludes with developing the ambassadors' communication, influence, and public speaking skills, and culminates in innovation and green entrepreneurship projects.
Dr. Hossam Nassar, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Environmental Affairs, emphasized that this step represents a strategic shift in preparing ambassadors capable of leading awareness campaigns and participating in shaping a more sustainable future.
