The President of Beni Suef University reviews the graduation projects of the Department of Intellectual Disability at the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences

The meeting was held under the supervision of Dr. Mona Kamal, Head of the Department, and in the presence of Dr. Hossam Abed, Assistant Professor of Intellectual Disability, Dr. Mohamed Hosny, Assistant Professor of Intellectual Disability, and a number of students participating in the projects.

These projects were distinguished by their focus on serving individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. The meeting concluded with the presentation of a plaque of appreciation, on behalf of the department and its students, to the university president in recognition of his ongoing support.

The university president explained that the projects included a range of high-quality initiatives aimed at developing the skills and enhancing the abilities of children with intellectual disabilities. These initiatives included a training program based on mind-reading sessions using virtual reality to develop emotional skills, a training activity kit to develop reading skills, and the “Sanad” platform to support families of children with intellectual disabilities.

The projects also included an art-based program to improve sensory integration skills, and an interactive booklet supported by QR codes to develop children’s safety and security skills, stressing that these projects reflect the scientific and practical approach of the department in creating modern educational and training solutions that serve the community and achieve the university’s goals in supporting special needs groups.

The university president added that these projects represent a pioneering model in linking scientific research with societal needs, praising the efforts of faculty members and students in presenting innovative ideas that contribute to improving the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families. He explained that the university pays special attention to the fields of special needs sciences, as part of its humanitarian and educational mission, noting that supporting these projects enhances the university’s position as a leading academic institution in serving the community.

For her part, Dr. Mona Kamal explained that these projects were the fruit of fruitful collaboration between students and faculty members, emphasizing that the department always strives to offer practical initiatives that contribute to empowering children and their families, and open new horizons for research and application in the field of intellectual disability.
