Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, announced a new medical achievement by Beni Suef University Hospitals: the innovation of the first advanced, specialized medical bed for burn patients with international specifications—introduced for the first time in Egypt. The project was supervised by Dr. Hany Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Hospitals Board; Dr. Emad El-Banna, Executive Director of the Hospitals; and Dr. Wael El-Shaer, Former Dean and Head of the Plastic and Burn Surgery Department. The announcement was made in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Emad El-Din, Assistant Professor of Plastic and Burn Surgery; Dr. Abdel Aziz Zain El-Abedeen, Deputy Executive Director; Dr. Al-Zahraa Mohamed Fahmy, Director of the Human Excellence Program; Mr. Sarhan Mohamed, Director General of Financial and Administrative Affairs; and a number of medical and administrative leaders.

The Acting President stated that this innovation comes as part of the university’s continuous commitment to developing the medical system and enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens. He affirmed the university’s dedication to supporting medical innovation and adopting unconventional solutions that serve patients, praising the efforts of Dr. Wael El-Shaer, who designed the bed based on his extensive experience to meet the needs of critical and advanced burn cases requiring intensive care and strict infection control.

Dr. Hany Hamed explained that the new bed features unique technical specifications. It is padded with materials that prevent patient slippage to ensure stability during examination, and it is equipped with pumps that allow wound cleaning without the need to move the patient, thereby reducing pain and limiting the spread of infection. He noted that the project reflects successful integration between academic expertise and national industry.

Dr. Emad El-Banna extended sincere appreciation to the medical team and all those involved in this innovation, commending their humanitarian dedication and high-level scientific effort, which embody the role of the university physician in utilizing scientific research to serve the community. He added that honoring the innovative team with a shield of appreciation by the manufacturing entities is well-deserved recognition of this pioneering contribution to advancing burn care mechanisms. He emphasized that this achievement represents a qualitative addition that strengthens the university hospitals’ leadership in specialized medical services and opens new horizons for adopting innovative projects that enhance the efficiency of therapeutic and nursing systems, always prioritizing patient welfare.
