Under the auspices of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef National University, the Petroleum Geology and Mining Program organized a scientific geological trip to the rock formations and geological units on the Beni Suef-Zafarana-Ain Sokhna road. These areas represent educational and tourist destinations that attract visitors and researchers from inside and outside the country. This was held under the supervision of Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Academic Vice President, Dr. Mamtaz Mohamed Hegab, Dean of the Engineering, Basic and Applied Sciences Sector, and with the participation of Dr. Ibrahim Abdel-Ghaid, Dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Dr. Mahmoud Sayed Mustafa, Program Director, and Dr. Ali Hassan, Program Academic Advisor.
Dr. Mansour Hassan emphasized that the university seeks to achieve integration between theoretical education and practical application, by organizing periodic field visits aimed at developing students' skills and qualifying them to understand the practical aspects of their scientific specializations. He pointed out that these activities play a significant role in enhancing students' readiness for the job market, particularly in the petroleum and mining fields. He explained that direct interaction with nature and the geological environment enriches the educational process and contributes to building distinguished cadres capable of competing in the local and international labor markets.
He added that during this field trip, the students learned how to differentiate between marine and continental sedimentary environments through the type of rock facies and fossil content of the various geological formations. They also studied the primary geological structures that form during the sedimentation processes of sedimentary rocks.
