Under the auspices of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, the Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants organized a training course entitled "Extraction and Analysis of Genetic Material (DNA) from Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Using PCR and Gel Electrophoresis Techniques" in cooperation with the Faculty Development Center, under the supervision of Dr. Adel Gouda, Dean of the Institute, and Dr. Gomaa Saeed Tahamy, Director of the Center, where Dr. Magda El-Sayed Abdel Gawad lectured, in the presence of the Institute's Vice Deans and a number of faculty members.
The two-day course, which was held at the Biotechnology Laboratory, included a lecture on methods of extracting genetic material (DNA) from medicinal and aromatic plants, a lecture on molecular markers and the use of genetic fingerprinting to distinguish between different types of medicinal and aromatic plants, practical training on extracting genetic material and calculating its concentration, and practical training on using the PCR device and Gel Electrophoresis technology in analyzing genetic material.
