Beni Suef University organizes an awareness celebration for the International White Cane Day at the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences

Under the patronage of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences organized an awareness celebration for the International White Cane Day under the slogan "Walk of Light and Conquerors of Darkness ", under the supervision of Dr. Walid Farouk Hassan, Dean of the Faculty, and in the presence of the Faculty's deputies, department heads, faculty members and assistant staff, amidst a remarkable presence of students.
The activities began with organizing a simulation march with a white cane. The activities included a singing segment by Al Noor School for the Blind, honoring distinguished models from the families of the visually impaired, a visit to the visual impairment exhibition, then a video entitled “Bright Models of Graduates of the Visual Impairment Department” was shown, and a song translated into sign language was shown. A proposed project for an effective swimming device for the visually impaired was also shown.
The university president explained that the aim of celebrating the International White Cane Day is to emphasize the importance of supporting visually impaired students, considering their needs, and shedding light on the latest developments in the field of vision, including devices and publications. In addition to addressing their achievements and working to integrate them into society . Also , combining efforts between the civil and official sides to achieve this, spreading awareness and culture among societies about the rights of the blind, and highlighting the white cane as a symbol of visual impairment and that its holder has skills enable him to move without assistance from others.
