President of Beni Suef University: The start of the third session of the national initiative for smart green projects... and he invites researchers to participate in this national initiative

Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced today the start of the third session of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Environment, and a number of government institutions and bodies, United Nations agencies, private sector companies and civil society organizations.
The university president stressed that the national initiative is an  implementation of the directives of President / Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to unify efforts to address climate change and preserve the environment in a way that contributes to preserving natural resources and achieving the 2030 sustainable development goals to launch a national initiative aimed at developing smart green projects, and encouraging researchers to find innovative solutions for various environmental problems, the first and second editions received great attention from researchers and those interested in environmental issues and climate change in an effort to build a sustainable future for Egypt.
Dr. Mansour Hassan explained that the university administration pays special attention to the environment, as it has been ranked fourth locally according to the Indonesian classification of green universities, which is one of the most important international classifications concerned with environmentally friendly green universities and depends on many basic criteria, the most important of which are location, infrastructure, green spaces, education and scientific research. He pointed out that the classification confirmed that the university contributed to reducing negative environmental impacts and provided a comprehensive view of the culture of sustainability on campus, through commitment to the environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainability, as Beni Suef University achieved advanced positions in water and energy standards, Climate, infrastructure, pollution, education, and scientific research in sustainability. It also achieved the highest standard in water. It follows a clear approach and vision in this important context. Minya University has been ranked among the best green, environmentally friendly universities in the world, and it strives to keep pace with the Egyptian state’s plans in this regard. 

The university president also invited researchers to participate in the “National Initiative for Smart Green Projects”, third session 2024, which is a unique opportunity to present their ideas, innovations, and various activities to benefit from them to serve the nation. This is done by participating in the various categories of the initiative, in accordance with the required standards, and presenting research projects that provide innovative solutions to various challenges facing the environment, preserve natural resources, and projects that enhance energy and resource efficiency, and provide solutions to issues of food security, water security, ecosystem services, and biodiversity and other research that contributes to mitigating the effects of climate change. The winning projects will be presented during the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention COP29 on Climate Change, which is scheduled to be held next November 2024.
The initiative includes six categories: large projects, medium projects, small local projects (within the framework of the Decent Life Initiative), startup projects, development projects related to women, climate change and sustainability, and non-profit community initiatives and participations.
