“Combating gender-based violence,” a symposium at Beni Suef University, within the 16-day activities

The Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Beni Suef University, under the patronage of Dr. Mansour Hassan, University President, organized an awareness symposium entitled Combating Gender-Based Violence, in cooperation with the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Beni Suef Governorate, as part of the 16-day activities to combat violence against women, under the supervision of Dr. Sameh Al-Maraghi, Vice President of the University for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, Dr. Sherif Al-Gayar, Dean of the College, and Dr. Ghada Atef, Director of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women at the University,
The university president pointed out that the symposium addressed many topics, including forms and images of violence and legal mechanisms to confront it, honoring Islam and the divine religions of women, their rights from a religious perspective, and the efforts made by the state to enact legislation and laws that criminalize violence against women and guarantee their rights, as well as the awareness role that falls on educational institutions to educate the employees of those institutions and their families about the danger of violence and its psychological and health effects on females, which extends its impact on the family and society as a whole, early marriage and the psychological effects and complications associated with it, and how to defend oneself against harassment in public places.
It should be noted that during the symposium activities, the project was presented on translating the guide for units for combating violence against women in Egyptian universities, issued by the National Council for Women - during the 16 Days of Anti-Violence activities, from the Arabic language into 3 foreign languages (English, French, and Chinese), where Some copies of the translated guide will be given to some executive agencies, from the governorate, the Security Directorate, and the National Council for Women, in cooperation with the Anti-Violence Unit at Beni Suef University. At the conclusion of the symposium, the translation-based work groups from students of the
three departments were honored.
It is worth noting that the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women was launched on November 26, coinciding with the International Day; To eliminate violence against women as part of the state’s efforts to empower women and aims to combat all forms of violence. It will last for 16 days, with the participation of many partner agencies in the governorate.
The meeting activities were attended by Dr. Shaima Karam, head of the Women’s Affairs Unit in the governorate’s general office, Ms. Laila Abu Akl, a cassation lawyer and former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice for Family Affairs, Ms. Hanan Mahmoud Ibrahim, a preacher at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in the Beni Suef preaching area and media coordinator for female preachers, First Lieutenant Mai Muhammad for Human Rights, Dr. Jumana Ramadan, a member of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Beni Suef University, and Ms.Salma Fathi, Director of the Investor Service Office in the Governorate, the college deputies, faculty members, and the college’s students.
