Prof. Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, inaugurated, today, the electronic microscope unit at the College of Graduate Studies for Advanced Science at a cost of EGP 24 million, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Fatma Hassan, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Prof. Dr. Gamal Abdel-Rahman, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Farghali, Dean of the College, and a number of faculties' Deans and faculty members.
The university president explained that the unit contains an electronic microscope (Sigma 500VP) produced by the German company (CARL ZEISS), which is one of the largest international companies specialized in producing high-precision and efficient scientific microscopes.
He added that the device is the latest of its kind in the Middle East, with its enormous enlargement capacity up to million times with an accuracy up to 0.8 nanometers, and the device also contains a different set of six electronic detectors to photograph and analyze various samples in the field of nanometric materials science, biological and engineering science, and others.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Farghali, Dean of the College, stated that the device provides scientific services to researchers in the faculties of Science, Medicine, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry inside and outside the university, which is positively reflected in the increase in international publishing, and supports the level of master's and doctoral theses. The microscope can be used to photograph microbes before and after treating them with various medical materials, in addition to providing services to industrial areas such as cement factories and water treatment plants.
It is worth noting that Prof. Dr. Ahmed Farghali handed over the college’s shield to Prof. Dr. Mansour Hassan for his permanent and continuous support to the college, and his keenness to provide all the capabilities related to the research and educational process for the college.
