President of the University of Beni Suef announces the start up of the Institute of Medical and Aromatic Plants ... and confirms that we aim to make a competitive advantage for the province and provide job opportunities for youth

Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced the start up of the institution of medicinal and aromatic plants. This came during his visit to the institute, in the presence of Dr. Fatima That Hasan, President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research and the two advisor of the president of the university, Dr. Mumtaz Hijab, the dean of the institute, the vice deans and members of the faculty
Dr. Mansour confirmed that the institute includes four distinct scientific departments, including the Department of Plant Chemistry, the Production Technology Department, the Biotechnology Department, and the Medical and Pharmaceutical Department, indicating that the Institute helps in maximizing the production of medical plants within the governorate to add a competitive advantage to it, as Beni Suef Governorate produces more than 40% of the production of medical, aromatic and ornamental plants nationwide, and Egypt ranks first globally in the exports of essential oils
The university president inspected a number of student and research laboratories at the institute, praising the advanced research equipment in the institute, which serves a large sector of farmers and exporters of medical and aromatic plants in Beni Suef and Upper Egypt governorates, which are the center of these crops of economic importance and high export value.
The university president pointed out that medicinal plants are considered a great economic value, as the demand for them increases locally and internationally due to their multiple uses, in addition to their contribution to achieving self-sufficiency and producing 100% Egyptian medicine
For his part, Dr. Mumtaz Hijab pointed out that the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research Institute is the first of its kind in this field in Egypt and the Middle East, and it has been established to become a distinguished academic research institute and a pioneer in medicinal and aromatic plants research at the local and international level, its for graduate students and granting Research masters degrees, professional masters and doctorates
The institute aims to keep pace with scientific progress on the world level and contribute to the development of the industry and production of medicinal and aromatic plants and applications based on them, providing various services to meet the needs of society with international standards, providing innovative solutions in the field of institute research, and preparing scientific cadres qualified to meet the needs of the labor market
