As part of Beni-Suef University’s commitment—under the leadership of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of the University—to upholding the principles of academic integrity and fostering awareness of research ethics, the University Performance Development Center organized an online seminar titled "Retraction of Scientific Publications and Its Impact on the Academic Reputation of Researchers and Universities." The event saw the participation of 61 researchers from Beni-Suef University and was held under the supervision of Dr. Abeer Sayed Moawad, Director of the University Performance Development Center, and organized by Dr. Fatma Hanafy, Director of the Center’s Training and Conferences Office. The seminar was presented by Dr. Samaa El-Daq, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Advanced Sciences and Director of the International Ranking and Sustainable Development Office at the Center.
The University President explained that the seminar addressed the issue of scientific paper retractions—a critical topic within the academic publishing ecosystem. It shed light on the reasons behind the retraction of published research, the subsequent consequences, and the implications for the scientific credibility of researchers, as well as the academic reputation of universities and research institutions.
Furthermore, the seminar emphasized the importance of adhering to ethical and professional standards in scientific publishing, ensuring the integrity of research practices, and avoiding misconduct that could negatively affect the reliability of scientific findings—as well as the standing of both the researcher and the academic institution within the local and international scholarly community. This seminar is part of the University Performance Development Center’s efforts to promote a culture of research integrity, raise awareness regarding responsible practices in scientific publishing, and support the university’s objective of enhancing the quality of scientific research and strengthening its academic standing and global ranking.
The seminar also reflects Beni-Suef University’s commitment to fostering awareness of issues related to academic publishing and research ethics. Such initiatives serve to support researchers, embed rigorous scientific practices, and safeguard the academic reputation of both the university and its research institutions.
