Beni Suef University Hospitals Successfully Save the Life of a Patient with Severe Renal Bleeding Using Interventional Radiology Without Surgery

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, announced the successful intervention by a specialized medical team from the Interventional Radiology Department at the Faculty of Medicine and Beni Suef University Hospitals to save the life of a 22-year-old female patient suffering from severe renal bleeding. The medical team successfully controlled the bleeding using catheter-based interventional radiology, without the need for open surgery, preserving the affected kidney and contributing to the patient’s rapid recovery. The procedure was performed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hany Hamed, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Emad El-Banna, Executive Director of Beni Suef University Hospitals.
Dr. Tarek Ali expressed his appreciation to Dr. Sahar Mahmoud, Head of the Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology Department; Dr. Ahmed Hesham, Head of the Interventional Radiology Unit; and the medical team that performed the intervention, including Dr. Ahmed Abdel Baset, Assistant Professor of Interventional Radiology; Dr. Amr Ali; and Dr. Nesma Nour, in addition to the Intensive Care Unit team, with the participation of the nursing team and catheterization technicians.
Dr. Tarek explained that the case was managed through an interventional catheterization procedure, a precise medical technique that enables physicians to control bleeding without resorting to open surgery. This approach contributed to preserving the kidney, reducing complications associated with the intervention, and accelerating the patient’s recovery. He noted that the continued success of Beni Suef University Hospitals in performing delicate and complex procedures reflects the significant development taking place within the university hospitals’ healthcare system, supported by distinguished medical professionals, advanced scientific capabilities, and modern equipment.
