Students of the Surveying Program at Beni Suef National University visit the Egyptian General Survey Authority and the National Museum of Civilization

Beni Suef National University organized, under the auspices of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of the University, a scientific visit for students of the Surveying Program The Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information Systems Program was transferred to the Topographic Surveying Department of the Egyptian General Surveying Authority and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, under the supervision of Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Rasha Adel, Dean of the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Sector, in the presence of Dr. Sherif Mamdouh Mustafa, Director of the Surveying Program, Eng. Hassan Abdel Aal Ahmed, General Director of the Topographic Mapping Department, and Dr. Tamer Amroun, Professor of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Technology Applications Courses During the visit, the students listened to a detailed explanation of the stages of field surveying, extracting survey data from three-dimensional aerial photographs, reviewing and map coding processes in the Geographic Information Systems Department, and then the stage of producing maps and printing them on modern devices which designated for this purpose. After the visit, the delegation headed to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and the museum’s staff reviewed the stages of civilizational development that Egypt has gone through since the era of the first human from prehistory until the contemporary era Passing through the ancient Egyptian civilization and the surveying tools used in establishing this civilization, devices for measuring time day and night, devices for measuring angles, and the cultural possessions of this period and what followed it in the Christian period and then the Islamic period, while getting to know the most famous mummies in the history of the ancient Egyptian civilization
The university president explained that the aim of the visit is to introduce university students to the bodies which related to the curriculum of the Surveying and Geographic Information Systems program, stressing that the university pays great attention to the practical and field aspect of students, and seeks to link the academic curricula that students receive with the practical aspect, with the aim of training students practically and qualifying them for the labor market, developing their skills and gaining field experience, and reducing the gap between theory and application
