Students of the Faculty of Navigation Sciences and Space Technology at Beni Suef University under the auspices of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of the University, and under the supervision of Dr. Osama Shalabiya, Dean of the Faculty implemented a graduate project on the problems facing the space industry, which is the increase in space debris and its impact on current and future space missions.
Dr. Mansour Hassan expressed his happiness with the extent of excellence of his sons among the students of the College of Navigation Sciences, which celebrates the graduation of the first batch this year, and the research teams that were formed from students to prepare these unique projects, which are a real research nucleus for projects that will serve humanity in the future, and follow-up and supervision of members the teaching staff and the supporting staff, and the extent to which the school curricula keep up with the latest scientific findings in the field of navigation and space technology The idea of the project revolves around the real problem facing the space industry, which is the increase in space debris and its impact on current and future space missions with the increasing number of countries in the world launching space missions of the type CubeSat, this led to an exacerbation of the space debris problem due to the short space mission of this type of satellite, and most of them do not have a way to remove from orbit after the end of the mission The students suggested making a sub-system to be placed on board these satellites and also suitable for larger satellites, as this system relies on the use of atmospheric resistance by increasing the area exposed to air, which impedes the movement of the moon and accelerates its removal from orbit at the end of the mission and not only that During the project, the students suggested that this sub-system be multi-mission not only to remove the moon at the end, but also that it could be used at the beginning of the mission in control to accelerate the stability of the moon in its orbit to start the space mission quickly, and to make an artificial intelligence model to predict small objects that could collide with the moon during its mission and avoid bump into it
The project won the admiration of the audience and the jury as one of the best projects that were presented, especially because it talks about a real problem and a major challenge in the space industry. The project was nominated by the committee to enter the Egyptian Space Agency business incubator.
