In collaboration with Dar al-Iftaa, the Faculty of Navigation and Space Technology will observe the crescent moon of the month of Safar.

Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced on Wednesday, Muharram 29, that the Faculty of Navigation and Space Technology at the university will collaborate with Dar al-Iftaa of Egypt to conduct a lunar observation to determine the beginning of the month of Safar in 1445.

Dr. Mansour Hassan noted that the Faculty of Navigation and Space Technology is one of the committees designated by the Dar al-Iftaa to observe the crescent moon of the beginning of the Arabic months across Egypt. He also pointed out that the university is always committed to providing the faculty with the latest astronomical telescopes to help it conduct research and surveys.

Dean of the Faculty Dr. Osama Shalaby said that a committee has been formed to conduct the observation, consisting of Dr. Manal Gamal El-Din, Vice Dean for Environment and Community Service, and Dr. Ahmed Badawy Yasin, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Space Sciences and the supervisor of the observation team. The committee will prepare a report on the observation of the crescent moon.

It is worth noting that the conjunction of the moon and the sun will occur today at 12:27:40 PM, and the sunset will be at 7:30 PM and the moonrise will be at 7:52 PM in the local time. Therefore, the duration of the crescent moon's visibility after sunset is estimated to be about 21 minutes.
