Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni-Suef University, issued a decision appointing Dr. Sameh Fikry Salama as Acting Dean of the Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants until July 31, 2024.
Dr. Sameh Fikry Salama is a professor of pharmacology and medicinal plants at the Faculty of Pharmacy. He holds a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science from Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, and Master's and Ph.D. degrees from the Faculty of Graduate Pharmaceutical Science, Tokyo University in Japan.
He also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Science, under the supervision of Professor M.I. Choudhary. He has been a faculty member at various universities since March 2005, and was promoted to the rank of professor in December 2016. He also worked as a visiting researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Guido Pauli at the University of Chicago in the United States.
He has supervised 28 master's and doctoral theses in the fields of isolation and elucidation of chemical composition, testing the biological activity of natural plant compounds, and the production of medicinal plants using new techniques of hydroponics and aquaponics.
