Under the auspices of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of the University, the Faculty of Science for People with Special Needs at Beni Suef University organized an educational symposium on Down Syndrome Under the supervision of Dr. Heba Allah Abu El-Nile, Dean of the College of Sciences for People with Special Needs, coinciding with the celebration of the Department of Mental Disability in the college on the International Day of Down Syndrome, where Dr. Mona Kamal, Assistant Professor of Mental Disability, lectured at the symposium, in the presence of the college’s vice deans and faculty members, in the presence of remarkable number of students
The president of the university pointed out that the United Nations approved March 21 as an international day to celebrate Down Syndrome
Which aims to raise awareness of the syndrome, support people affected by it and their families to raise public awareness, and create a united global voice that defends the rights and integration of these people into society, noting that the new republic in the era of His Excellency President Sisi attaches great importance to people with special needs of various disabilities and benefit from their unique energies and talents are "able with differ"
The symposium dealt with information about Down syndrome in terms of concept, causes and symptoms, and raised awareness of the importance of the role of the family and society in integrating people with the syndrome into various life activities and encouraging them to study and work.
