Beni Suef University celebrates the International Day of the White Cane and shares their joy with Al Nour Association for the Blind

Beni Suef University, headed by Prof. Dr. Mansour Hassan, celebrated the International Day of the White Cane, which the world celebrates on October 15 of each year. The Department of Visual Disabilities at the Faculty of Special Needs Science, under the supervision of Dr. Heba Abu El-Nil, Dean of the Faculty, participated in the celebrations of the children of the Al-Noor Association for the Blind and worked to raise their morale and raising awareness of their rights. This was in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Allam, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Mahmoud El-Shahawi, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs and Head of Visual Impairment Department, faculty members, and students.
The University President explained that the aim of the celebration of the International White Cane Day is to emphasize the importance of supporting students with visual impairment, knowing their needs and highlighting the latest developments in the field of vision in terms of devices and publications, in addition to discussing their achievements and work to integrate them into society, spreading awareness and culture among societies about the rights of the blind, and highlight the white cane as a symbol of visual impairment and that its holder has skills that enable him to move.
Dr. Heba Abu El-Nile, Dean of the College, indicated that the celebration included a presentation of the model and experience of success of the teaching assistant, Shaima Mohamed Fawzy, with visual disabilities and a graduate of the school to be a role model and an example of challenge for school students, and they inspected an exhibition of handicrafts from the work of school students and encouraged them to continue, and presented some artistic activities carried out by the students of the department in conjunction with the students of the school with visual impairments, and the honoring of the first high school students from the school and those enrolled at the university.
