Delegation from Faculty of Medicine in Beni Suef participates in training course to support female genital mutilation victims

Prof. Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced the participation of a delegation of faculty members at the Faculty of Medicine in the training course for doctors on the national guide to support female circumcision victims, noting that the delegation included Dr. Fadwa El Roby, assistant professor of , and Dr. Ahmed Gamal, forensic medicine Lecturer and Dr. Moamen Zakaria, Lecturer of obstetrics and gynecology.
 Prof. Dr. Mansour affirmed his full support for facilitating and implementing the recommendations emanating from the training course, including the adoption of a joint field study to study the behavior of male and female students of the Faculty of Medicine in Egyptian universities towards female circumcision by the attending university professors, while working in parallel to hold seminars and student conferences to spread awareness of the medical risks and legal consequences of FGM. 
The university president explained that the university is one of the leading universities at the level of Upper Egypt universities in establishing and activating the safe women unit, which is dedicated to dealing with afflicted women in cooperation with the National Council for Women and the United Nations Development Fund, in light of the political leadership’s interest in supporting and empowering Egyptian women under the umbrella of the new Republic.

Dr. Atef Morsi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Beni Suef University Hospitals indicated that the recommendations also included activating the role of awareness in schools in cooperation between the National Council for Women and the National Committee to Combat Female Genital Mutilation with the Faculties of Medicine, and the Ministries of Health and Education.
Dr. Mohamed Shaaban, Executive Director of Beni Suef University Hospitals, added that seminars and conferences for male and female doctors include the legal aspects of female circumcision in cooperation with faculties of Medicine and Doctors Syndicate.
