Prof. Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced that Dr. Wael Nabil Hozayn, Professor at the Faculty of Science, Beni Suef University, has won a research project '' Applying the microbial diversity associated with drought-resistant plants and the mechanism for promoting growth as an innovative way to treat the problem of soil desertification, which was launched by the Academy of Scientific Research in scientific cooperation programs with China.
Prof. Dr. Mansour emphasized that the project has great application importance as it aims to obtain new bacterial strains that can be employed to resist the problem of desertification that Egypt, China and many countries suffer from. During the project, the structural characteristics of the microbial communities associated with drought-tolerant plants and isolation of extreme desert-loving bacterial species..
By combining the results of the antibacterial activity, the salt tolerance test, and the plant growth promotion test, a set of new strains will be obtained that can be used to promote plant growth in desert environments to preserve the environment and confront the problem of desertification.
