The Faculty of Special Needs Sciences at Beni-Suef University Organizes Its First Awareness Meeting Entitled “You Are Not Alone”

Under the auspices of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni-Suef University, the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences organized its first awareness meeting for first-year students, entitled “You Are Not Alone.” The meeting aimed to boost students’ self-confidence and support their psychological and academic adjustment as they begin their university journey. It was held under the supervision of Dr. Hamada Mohamed, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Heba Abu El-Nil, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Mahmoud El-Shahawy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Eman Marei, Director of the Faculty’s Psychological and Social Support and Family Counseling Unit; and Dr. Abu Bakr Azazi, Deputy Director of the Unit, in addition to a number of faculty members, assistant staff, and Unit employees.

Dr. Tarek Ali explained that this event is part of the University’s efforts to strengthen its psychological and social support and family counseling system and provide a supportive university environment that helps students adapt and integrate, while equipping them with the confidence and ability to successfully continue their educational journey.

The meeting featured a lecture delivered by Mr. Nasser Hamdan, Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Learning Disabilities and a member of the Unit. He addressed the importance of psychological and social support for students at the beginning of their university studies and its role in boosting their self-confidence, helping them adapt to the demands of university life, and enabling them to cope with the challenges they may encounter during this stage.

The meeting also featured an interactive discussion with students, during which their questions and concerns were heard and their inquiries addressed. This provided them with an opportunity to express their needs and discuss the issues on their minds as they embarked on their university journey, in an atmosphere characterized by open communication and positive interaction.
