Under the auspices of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, and as part of the university’s leading role in community service and promoting health awareness, the Faculty of Nursing, in collaboration with the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, organized an awareness event on the occasion of World Cancer Day. The event was supervised by Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Hanan El-Zablawi, Dean of the Faculty; Dr. Sherine El-Sayed Metwally, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Iman Mohamed Ahmed, Head of the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, with the attendance of faculty members and students.

Dr. Tarek Ali emphasized that organizing this event reflects the university’s commitment to its social responsibility, affirming that the university spares no effort in supporting national health initiatives aimed at raising public awareness. He noted that the university leverages all its scientific capabilities and distinguished medical and nursing staff to contribute to building a comprehensive “preventive culture” that protects future generations, especially in confronting cancer, which requires precise medical awareness and broad societal cooperation.

The University President stressed the importance of sustaining such events, which successfully integrate academic and research activities with direct community service. He praised the high organizational standards of the Faculty of Nursing and the scientific topics covered during the event, from training in specialized nursing skills to providing comprehensive psychological support for patients and their families as a fundamental component of recovery protocols.

Dr. Hanan El-Zablawi, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, explained that the event included vital topics covering preventive measures through seminars on early detection methods, as well as reviewing the latest nursing protocols for caring for cancer patients and mitigating the side effects of treatments. She expressed gratitude to all organizers and emphasized that “prevention is not just a medical procedure, but a culture we build together,” highlighting the importance of psychological support for patients and their families as an integral part of the healing journey.
