Under the auspices of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, and as part of efforts to enhance community awareness and support Egypt’s Vision 2030, the “Students for Egypt” initiative and the Student Union of the Faculty of Developmental Social Work organized the exhibition “A Step Towards an Aware Society and Sustainable Development.” The event was held in collaboration with Al-Azhar Preaching District and the Beni Suef Endowments Directorate. The exhibition was supervised by Dr. Abu El-Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Hindawy Abdel-Lahi, Dean of the Faculty; and Dr. Mohamed Saad El-Sherbini, Vice Dean for Community Service.
Dr. Tarek Ali emphasized that the exhibition reflects the university’s pioneering role in adopting sustainable development issues and transforming them from “theoretical goals” into a tangible culture and practice within the university community. He noted that the university’s strategy focuses on linking academic research to the real and field-based needs of Egyptian society. He added that partnerships with established national institutions such as Al-Azhar and the Ministry of Endowments strengthen students’ sense of social responsibility and contribute effectively to building an aware generation capable of shaping the country’s future.
The University President highlighted the importance of replicating such successful awareness initiatives that integrate knowledge with national objectives, praising the organizational excellence of the “Students for Egypt” team and the Faculty Student Union. He stressed that sustainable development is not merely plans on paper but the result of collective awareness, participation, and collaboration among all institutions to protect the rights of future generations and ensure a dignified life for them.
Dr. Hindawy Abdel-Lahi explained that the exhibition primarily focused on raising awareness about the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals, including eradicating poverty, ensuring good health and quality education, promoting decent work, and preserving the environment. He added that the faculty welcomes all initiatives that involve students in fieldwork, emphasizing that true development begins with awareness and active participation among youth and community institutions to achieve social justice.
