Beni Suef University Faculty of Mass Communication Qualifies for the Final Rounds of the “Ibda’a 14” Festival in the Short Films Category

Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, announced that students of the Faculty of Mass Communication at the University have qualified for the final rounds of the “Ibda’a 14” Festival for University Youth, in the category of “Short Films” (Specialized), organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports. This comes under the supervision of Dr. Hamada Mohamed, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Mamdouh Mekawy, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication; Dr. Nesreen Hossam El-Din, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Shahenda Atef, Head of the Radio and Television Department; Dr. Ghada Yehia and Ms. Samar Mostafa, members of the teaching staff of the department; and Captain Mohamed Farouk, Director General of Youth Welfare, with follow-up by the Artistic Activity Administration and the Faculty’s Youth Welfare Administration.

Dr. Tarek Ali explained that the qualification of two films produced by students of the Faculty of Mass Communication for the final competition reflects their creative excellence and their ability to employ cinematic tools in addressing purposeful issues. He noted that the list of qualifiers included student Lotfy Mohamed Lotfy with his documentary film “Deir El-Hadeed”, and student Mariam Hamdy with her documentary film “From a String to a Homeland”. The University President affirmed that these works are the result of distinguished practical assignments for students of the Radio and Television Department, wishing them every success in the final judging stage to be held in Alexandria in February 2026.

In a related context, Dr. Hamada Mohamed emphasized that the University attaches great importance to the arts and cinema sector, noting that the students underwent intensive training that qualified them to compete strongly. He praised the efforts exerted by the Faculty and the Youth Welfare Administration, led by Captain Mohamed Farouk, in presenting refined artistic content that reflects the identity of the University.

Dr. Mamdouh Mekawy, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, also expressed his pride in this achievement, considering it a culmination of the Faculty’s efforts to integrate academic study with practical application. He commended the role of the teaching staff supervising the works and affirmed that the Faculty always strives to prepare media professionals capable of competition and excellence in major national and international forums.

Captain Mohamed Farouk, Director General of the General Administration of Youth Welfare, confirmed that the administration provides all necessary facilities and support for creative students in all fields. He praised the role of the Artistic Activity Administration in following up on students’ works and preparing them in a manner that ensures achieving advanced positions and winning festival awards in its final stage in Alexandria.

It is worth noting that the “Ibda’a 14” Festival is considered one of the most prominent national events supporting the discovery and nurturing of young talents. The participation of the Faculty of Mass Communication this year reflects its students’ ability to employ a contemporary visual language in addressing themes of identity, belonging, and human memory, in a manner befitting the name of Beni Suef University at this major national forum.
