Under the auspices of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, the Faculty of Science, in cooperation with the Egyptian Materials Research Society (Eg-MRS), organized the 56th One-Day Symposium entitled “Smart, Multi-functional Materials and Its Applications IV.” The event was held under the supervision of Dr. Wael Nabil Hazein, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Dr. Raafat Mohamed Mostafa, Head of the Department of Physics; and Dr. Arafa Hussein Ali, President of the Egyptian Materials Research Society, with wide participation from faculty members, researchers, and students.
The University President emphasized that organizing such scientific events aligns with the University’s strategy to promote research in advanced technological fields. He pointed out that the topic of “smart materials” represents one of the most important modern pillars in the industrial, medical, and environmental sectors. Dr. Tarek Ali also highlighted the University’s commitment to fostering collaboration between academic departments and specialized research societies to keep pace with global developments, enhancing researchers’ competencies and developing their innovative capabilities to serve comprehensive development plans.
For his part, Dr. Wael Nabil Hazein, Dean of the Faculty of Science, expressed pride in hosting this distinguished scientific forum, affirming that the Faculty always seeks to provide platforms for exchanging expertise between senior scientists and young researchers. He noted that the symposium reviewed the latest research trends and practical applications of multi-functional materials, concluding with an awards ceremony in which the Egyptian Materials Research Society honored outstanding researchers. The young researchers who received awards were: Islam Saadallah Owais, Mohamed Kurdi, Basma Ali Abdel Halim, and Mai Medhat El-Sayed, in recognition of their distinguished research contributions.
