“Social Work” at Beni Suef University Organizes a Field Visit for Postgraduate Students to the “Family Court” to Enhance Practical Skills

Under the patronage of Dr. Tarek Ali, Acting President of Beni Suef University, and within the framework of the University’s keenness to develop the knowledge of postgraduate students and provide them with practical skills and field experience, the Faculty of Developmental Social Work organized a field visit for students of the “Family and Childhood Diploma” to the Family Dispute Settlement Office at the Family Court in Beni Suef. The visit was supervised by Dr. Hendawy Abdel-Lahy Hassan, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdel-Rahim, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and organized by Dr. Mona Galal, Director of the Admission and Registration Unit at the Faculty. The visit was attended by members of the Family Dispute Settlement Office.

Dr. Tarek Ali explained that the University places great importance on postgraduate students by linking academic curricula to practical reality, affirming that such visits contribute to shaping the researcher’s character and equipping them with the necessary field experience. He noted that the profession of social work plays a pivotal role in societal stability, particularly in issues related to the family and the child, which necessitates preparing qualified cadres capable of addressing family problems based on modern scientific and practical foundations, in line with the vision of the Egyptian state to build a cohesive society.

For his part, Dr. Hendawy Abdel-Lahy Hassan, Dean of the Faculty, expressed his appreciation for the role played by Family Dispute Settlement Offices as one of the most important fields of work for social workers, emphasizing that the visit aims to disseminate knowledge and gain insight into the realities of field practice. The visit included a meeting with Counselor Ahmed Yassin, President of the Family Court in Beni Suef, in the presence of Mr. Khaled Khalil, Director of the Settlement Office, as well as Dr. Heba Al-Badawy and Mr. Eid Abu Al-Kheir, experts at the office. During the meeting, the Counselor reviewed the mechanisms of work of the Family Dispute Settlement Office, stressing the importance and sensitivity of the social worker’s role in dealing with disputing families and the great responsibility borne in attempts at reconciliation and reducing cases of family disintegration.
