"Professional Work Requirements with People with Disabilities: Opportunities and Challenges" Symposium at the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences, Beni Suef University

Under the patronage of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of the University, the Faculty of Special Needs Sciences at Beni Suef University organized a symposium titled "Professional Work Requirements for People with Disabilities: Opportunities and Challenges." The symposium was delivered by Dr. Walid Farouk, Dean of the Faculty, and was attended by a large number of researchers in the field of people with disabilities, including diploma, postgraduate, master's, and doctoral students, as well as all those interested in issues of education and rehabilitation for people with special needs in Egyptian society.
Dr. Mansour Hassan explained that the requirements for professional work with people with disabilities are a fundamental goal sought by the Egyptian state, in accordance with the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, regarding the necessity of Egyptian universities developing a mechanism for preventive, rehabilitative, and technological services for working with people with disabilities. The symposium addressed issues related to academic, professional, and social integration, as well as assessment, diagnosis, preventive approaches, early intervention, vocational rehabilitation, guidance, selection, professional follow-up, occupational therapy, and the elimination of behavioral and emotional disorders associated with persons with disabilities, as well as rights, legislation, and technological and guidance competencies that assist persons with disabilities.
The symposium discussed international standards for professional development to prepare specialists to work with persons with disabilities, the importance of supporting and empowering families in comprehensive rehabilitation programs, and the importance of home rehabilitation programs. It also discussed establishing a mechanism for early detection programs for all types of disabilities and their continuous updating, as well as ways to prevent and reduce their occurrence and achieve effective comprehensive integration and integrated rehabilitation for persons with disabilities in Egyptian society in light of international standards.
Dr. Walid Farouk, Dean of the College, also reviewed the systematic and non-systematic methods of comprehensive diagnosis and rehabilitation aimed at helping specialists learn new skills and develop their capabilities in professional practices in terms of general cultural preparation, professional preparation, and specialized preparation in the field of diagnosis and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, evaluating professional performance during work, and reviewing assistive devices and means.
