Under the auspices of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef National University, third-year students in the Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information Systems program conducted a practical field study on the ground in the Zafarana and Ain Sokhna areas. This was under the supervision of Dr. Abu Al-Hassan Abdel Mawgoud, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Rasha Adel, Dean of the Faculties of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, in the presence of Dr. Sherif Mamdouh, Program Director, and Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahman, Course Professor.

The university president explained that the goal of these practical studies is to link the theoretical and practical aspects of the Surveying and Geographic Information Systems program. The university administration seeks to link the academic curricula students receive with the practical aspects, with the goal of providing practical training to students, qualifying them for the job market, developing their skills, and gaining field experience, all with the goal of bridging the gap between theory and practice.

During the study, the students conducted several field measurements of some natural phenomena, including a study on overcoming the dangers of floods by studying the drainage basins of dry valleys and their network in the Eastern Desert. They also studied and conducted measurements of some different types of flood channels built on the road linking Beni Suef and Zaafarana. On the other hand, the movement of sand dunes appearing on both sides of the road was studied, as well as some other phenomena such as mudflats, karst caves, and mud cracks.
