Beni Suef University launches the activities of Space Buds Program

Beni Suef University, under the patronage of Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of University, launched the activities of the summer training program for space buds, as a first phase entitled "A Journey to Space". This phase targets distinguished school students from the fourth to sixth grades of primary school, under the supervision of Dr. Sameh Al-Maraghi, Vice President of University for community service and environmental development affairs, and Dr. Osama Shalabiya, Dean of the College.
Dr. Mansour explained that this program is a unique and enjoyable educational experience for the children of Beni Suef Governorate, provided by the university to contribute to developing their passion for science and space exploration as one of the university’s most important roles in serving society. This phase of the program aims to enhance the concepts of astronomy and space technology as one of the most important future sciences by developing children’s scientific and exploratory skills, providing interactive scientific experiments on the concepts of astronomy and space, and encouraging children to think critically and solve problems. The duration of the program lasts four weeks, two days a week, and Earth and its moon are studied in the first week. Then, in the second week, they study the planets and the solar system, in the third week, they study satellites and spacecraft, and in the fourth week, they design a space mission and explore space.
The program includes organizing scientific visits to the National Authority for Remote Sensing (the virtual world in space and astronomy) and the Library of Alexandria to visit the Planetarium, and a visit to the Egyptian Space Agency. At the end of the program, certificates and prizes are awarded for outstanding performance to encourage children by following up on their progress and evaluating scientific activities to evaluate and improve the program in the future.
