Navigation Sciences and Space Technology at Beni Suef University will survey the crescent of the month of Shaaban next Saturday

Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of Beni Suef University, announced that the University’s Faculty of Navigation Sciences and Space Technology, in cooperation with the Egyptian Fatwa House, will organize a reconnaissance day to investigate the sighting of the crescent of the month of Shaban for the year 2024 next Saturday, 29 29 Rajab 1445 AH
The university president indicated that the Faculty of Navigation Sciences, in cooperation with the Egyptian Fatwa House, is surveying the crescent of the early Arab months from the college headquarters 
 by using an electro-optical telescope under the supervision of the college’s monitoring team and in the presence of a committee from the Egyptian Fatwa House in Cairo. The college is one of the monitoring and investigation committees which  sent by the Egyptian Fatwa House, to cover the vision nationwide, noting that the university is always interested in providing the college with the latest astronomical telescopes that help it  to conduct various surveys
Dr. Osama Shalabia, Dean of the College, explained that there is a committee from the College under the supervision of Dr. Manal Gamal El-Din Muhammad, Vice Dean of the College for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, and Dr. Ahmed Badawy Yassin in the Department of Space Sciences and supervisor of the monitoring team, to prepare investigative reports on the sighting of the crescent of the Arab Months in cooperation with the Egyptian Fatwa House. The Monitoring Committee is training students to use the telescope to monitor and track satellites, as the Arab months have been surveyed many times over the past years, and the college has surveyed the holy months of Ramadan and Shawwal  
Dr. Osama Shalabiya added that the college is not a fatwa body, but rather a scientific body that follows the noble Prophetic Sunnah in detecting the crescent moon, as our noble Messenger commanded us, pointing out that the college is one of the monitoring committees that contribute in investigating the Holy Month and the Arab months, stressing that the college has all respect and appreciation for the Egyptian Fatwa House, represented by His Eminence the Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawqi Allam, as it is the only body that has the final opinion on the dates of the beginnings and ends of the Hijri months
