Impact of organizational culture on academic staff' Perceptions to "Quality Assurance and Accreditation" programs and its reflections on Quality Commitment

Research Abstract

Purpose-This research aimed at examine the relationship between the organizational culture and academic staff perceptions to Quality Assurance and Accreditation processes in the Egyptian universities/faculties which have achieved accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE). The second objective was investigate the direct effects of academic staff perceptions to "quality Assurance and Accreditation" program on individual's commitment to education quality. The third objective was investigate the direct and direct effects of organizational and academic values and attitudes toward quality assurance on personal commitment to quality. Methodology/approach - A total of (329) academic staff from (21) faculties in (8) governmental universities completed the survey questionnaires. The principal component analysis (PCA) technique was performed to extract the underlying factors, followed by the application of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to test factorial validity of the constructs. Data was analyzed using SPSS and structure equation model by Amos 20. Findings - The analysis revealed that academic staff perceive quality assurance and Accreditation program as compliance and accountability rather than enhancement and improvement approach. The study found significance positive relationship between control-oriented values and acceptance quality assurance program as compliance and accountability tool, whereas flexibility-oriented values have negative impacts on the acceptance quality assurance program as compliance and accountability tool. At all, organizational and academic values affect the acceptance of quality assurance program, which in return affect personal commitment to quality activities.
