Research Abstract
Background: Oocyte cryopreservation is a new field of reproductive technology to address the burden of the biological clock for preservation and treatment of fertility. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of an educational program on knowledge, attitude, and intention regarding oocyte cryopreservation among working females. Research Design: A quasi-experimental research design (pre& post-test) was utilized to achieve the aim of this study. Setting: The study was conducted on working females at Beni-Suef University, Egypt. Sample: A purposive sample consisting of 334 working females was recruited. Tools: data were collected via four tools (I): A Structured interviewing questionnaire (II): Knowledge assessment sheet (III): Attitude assessment tool (IV): Intention assessment tool regarding oocyte cryopreservation. Results: The study’s findings showed that a statistically significant difference in overall knowledge level among working females regarding oocyte cryopreservation 79.9% of them had good knowledge scores posttest compared to 0.9% pretest; positive attitude had increased among working females from 3% pretest to 65% posttest. Additionally, 86.5% of them had moderate intention as compared to only 1.5% of them having high intention in pre-educational program. Conclusion: There was a statistically significant improvement between pre and post program implementation in the studied working females, “knowledge, attitude, and intention regarding oocyte cryopreservation. Recommendations: Oocyte Cryopreservation should be a part integrated into premarital counseling in different maternal and child health (MCH) centers to raise awareness about fertility preservation and its potential benefits for future quality of life.
