Evaluation of digital libraries Sites on the Egyptian universities Portals

Research Abstract

With the rapid development and rapid spread of information and communication technologies, the Internet has become more mature and has become one of the most powerful sources of information. It has become the leading means of preserving and disseminating information and communication among members of the local and international community. The term "Internet" has become a common language in all areas of life. From politics, economy, media, communications, news, entertainment, education and other areas of life. As universities play a vital role in the progress of nations, in the development of culture and science, in the dissemination of science and knowledge, and in the role of information and knowledge revolution, and because the university is only an educational institution at the top of the educational system in society, In recent years, there has been a remarkable development in university websites and the emergence of large university gates that serve the general public, students, researchers and faculty members in particular. The researcher has made a number of reasons to address the issue of evaluating the locations of digital libraries on Egyptian university gates in light of some criteria and evaluative elements. Among these reasons are the increasing growth in digital library sites and their application in many Egyptian universities. It is necessary to establish the foundations and specific principles for planning and developing digital library sites to provide equal and fair opportunities among students, faculty members and researchers. The study seeks to be the nucleus of a major strategic plan for the development of websites In the Arab Republic of Egypt. The results of the study reached many results, such as the location of the digital library at Fayoum University with 64 degrees out of a total of 114 degrees, followed by the Digital Library of South Valley University, which achieved a total of 59 degrees. The total of three universities is between 41 and 46 degrees. Beni Suef, Alexandria and Ain Shams The study recommends the necessity of creating a standard form for the design of digital library sites on the gates of Egyptian public universities, and attention to the existence of information services suitable for all users of digital libraries whether they are students or researchers or faculty members and others.
