Health Related Quality of Life Educational Interventions: Effect on Chronic Hepatitis C Patients'
Research Abstract
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) educational interventions are one option for Helping these patients adhere to treatment recommendations while improving their quality of life. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of health-related quality of life educational interventions on Chronic Hepatitis C Patients'. A quasi-experimental study design. This study was conducted at the liver outpatient clinic of Fayoum Medical University Hospital. A purposive sample of hundred fifty patients was included. Tools: 1) Patients' needs assessment questionnaire. 2) Health-Related Quality of life of chronic liver disease questionnaire (CLDQ). The study shows that there was highly statistically significant difference for HRQOL domains pre/post educational intervention for the following abdominal symptoms, fatigue, systemic symptoms, emotional function, and worry. In opposites there is no statistically significant difference for activity domain pre/post intervention. After the implementation of the program, the study group showed a positive effect of education intervention on HRQOL of HCV patients. It is recommended to generalize the designed educational intervention in this study for all HCV patients at MOH hospitals.
