Screening for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases among Textile Workers in Shebin Elkoum

Research Abstract

The aim of this study was to screen and study risk factors for chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases among textile workers in Shebin Elkoum. Research questions: - What is the percentage of textile workers who suggested having chronic obstructive pulmonary disease? - Are the workers use the personal protective equipment? - Are the work place environment affects the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases? Study sample: A convenience sample of workers was selected under the following criteria: workers who were non smokers, had experience more than 10 years, and accept to participate in the study. Study Subjects: Subjects in this study were all the workers who match the criteria of the study including 221 workers, selected from the total numbers of Shebin Elkoum textile factory workers who were in direct contact with cotton dust (985 workers).
