Today, Tuesday, March 11, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Council met in the college’s
 meeting hall, headed by Prof. Dr. Khaled Abbas Helmy, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Beni Suef, and attended by all heads of the college’s academic departments.
Prof. Dr. Khaled Abbas began the meeting by welcoming the attendees and honoring Prof. Dr. Hassan Abdel Hafeez, the first Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Beni Suef, in recognition of the great role that Prof. Dr. Hassan Abdel Hafeez played in establishing and building the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Beni Suef.
Prof. Dr. Hassan Abdel Hafeez obtained his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine from Assiut University in January 1965 and was appointed as a teaching assistant at the college in June of the same year. He was promoted to the rank of lecturer in 1970 and to the rank of assistant professor in 1975. He also traveled to England on a one-year scientific mission in 1977 and was appointed at the University of Leeds in England from 1977 to 1978. He returned to his homeland in 1979 as a professor in the Department of Nutrition at Assiut University.
Prof. Dr. Hassan Abdel Hafeez was transferred to work at Cairo University, Beni Suef Branch in 1981, to assume the Deanship of the College as the first Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Beni Suef in 1982 for a period of 6 consecutive years. He was reappointed for another 3 years, ending his Deanship term in 1991.
His Excellency also assumed the responsibility of heading the Nutrition Department at the College from 1981 to 2003.
