Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mansour Hassan, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz El Sayed, Dean of the Faculty, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Makkawi, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Ahmed Attia, Lecturer in the Department of Journalism, and within the framework of the practical application of the English Language Division course Photojournalism, Dr. Fatima Al-Abasiri, the course lecturer, organized a workshop on the basics of photography and photojournalism, today, Wednesday, November 6, 2024. The workshop was lectured by professional photographer Mohamed Al-Kashef, a photographer for many websites and institutions, including the Egyptian Al-Ahram newspaper and website, the Egyptian Akhbar Al-Nojoum magazine, and the Japanese news agency KYODO
The workshop included two aspects, one theoretical and the other practical. The first part dealt with the definition of photography, the secret word of photography “light”, the components and types of professional cameras and how to use them, and the basic key to cameras and their operation, which is the “exposure triangle”, which is the three camera settings: shutter speed, aperture, and ISO
During the workshop, Al-Kashif also talked about composition, the difference between photography and photojournalism, its basics and types, explaining how to make a distinctive image, and warning of the most prominent mistakes that a photographer may make while taking pictures. In the end, the students applied what was covered during the workshop practically
The workshop concluded with Professor Dr. Abdul Aziz, Dean of the College, honoring the trainer, extending thanks and appreciation to Dr. Fatima Al-Abasiri, the course professor, the trainer and the attendees, stressing that this workshop comes within the framework of the College’s plan for comprehensive media preparation
