Dr. Karam AbuSehly is lecturer of Critical and Cultural Theory at the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts. He has been working in this area of expertise since 2000. In 2002, he obtained his MA degree with distinction; the thesis, Martin Heidegger and the Question of Interpretation, was published in 2011 and is available at online bookstores. In 2011, he obtained his PhD degree with First Grade of Honour and the Recommendation of Publication, with a thesis entitled Postcolonial Existentialism: Towards a New Critical Perspectives. In 2007, Dr. AbuSehly published his “Existential Bias: Reflections on the Monopoly of Existence,” in the proceedings of the Second Conference on Bias, held by the Program for Civilisation Studies and Dialogue of Cultures, Cairo University. In 2009, he published “Globalisation and Human Existence: A Critical Studies,” in The Faculty of Arts Journal, Vol. 15., 2009, Beni-Suef University. From October 2014 to August 2015, Dr. AbuSehly was awarded a post-doctoral Erasmus Mundus scholarship and has been an active member in the colloquium of the Institut für Englische Philologie, at Freie Universität Berlin. The outcome of this research stay is his forthcoming publication “The Sublime Made Profane: On the Reification of Egypt’s January 25th Revolution.” In addition to academic writings, two co-translated books are yet to be published in Arabic: The Geography of War and Peace from Death Camps to Diplomats and Modern Geographic Thought. His upcoming projects focuses on the critical theory of the Frankfurt School, Posthumanism, and Critical Ontology
