ABSTRACT The Relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Clinical Teaching Effectiveness among Clinical Teaching Staff in Faculty of Nursing –Beni Suif University By : Aida Mahmoud Abd El Azeem Abd El Fattah Nursing faculty plays an important role in facilitating nursing student learning and shaping the student experience in the clinical setting. Emotional intelligence in clinical nursing may be one avenue to develop teaching effectiveness. The aim was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and clinical teaching effectiveness among clinical teaching staff. A correlational descriptive study was done in the Faculty of Nursing –Beni Suif University. The study sample including a Convenience sample of 55 assistant lecturers and demonstrators and random sample of 569 nursing students. The tools: two tools were used; Bar on Emotional Quotient Inventory and Nursing Clinical Teacher Effectiveness Inventory. The results of the present study revealed that, more than half of clinical teaching staff had high emotional intelligence and less than half of them were very good at clinical teaching effectiveness as reported by students. Conclusion: There was a negative relationship between emotional intelligence and clinical teaching effectiveness among clinical teaching staff. The study recommended that, developing nursing curriculums by adding emotional intelligence topic and Training programs about emotional intelligence and clinical teaching effectiveness for clinical teaching staff.
